Uzay Gallery hosts the @frictionquartet on December 10, performing works by three Bay Area powerhouse composers.

@samuelcarladams second quartet was commissioned by Spektral Quartet. Sam has mastered the blend of electronic sounds, acoustic instruments and captivating soundscapes. Four speakers resonate four snare drums along with the string quartet, creating a ghostly atmosphere.

Friction commissioned Gabriella Smith to write Inyo in 2013 and released a recording of the work on the album Rising. Wanting to continue promoting her excellent music they have decided to program her exhilarating work, Carrot Revolution. It finds inspiration from Bach to Gregorian chant and features raucous fiddling and percussive rhythms.

Theodore Haber wrote 2000 Miles of Space for Fricion’s second commissioning initiative. Theo writes about the work: This piece is an organism. Each section is very much a static space. Yet, even within static spaces there is minute movement. This piece is brisk and cold. You are alone and floating.
